BELA BAJNOK

Bela Bajnok

Bela Bajnok grew up in Hungary, a country with a long tradition of excellence in mathematics education. Bajnok received his Diploma at Eötvös University in Budapest and a Ph.D. in the United States at Ohio State University.  He has spent most of his professional career at Gettysburg College.

Bajnok’s main research interests are combinatorics and number theory, with occasional publications in various other fields as well.  Bajnok is the  author of two books: An Invitation to Abstract Mathematics, now in its second edition published by Springer, and Additive Combinatorics: A Menu of Research Problems, published by CRC Press.  He is the Director of American Mathematics Competitions, a series of contests that starts with the participation of 300,000 students and ends with the International Mathematical Olympiad.
